Question: If I'm taking 20 mg. of Corgard a day, can I give blood?

Answer: Corgard is a beta-adrenergic blocking agent (trade name Corgard) that is used to treat hypertension and angina.

According to the American Red Cross guidelines for blood donation, having high blood pressure or taking a medication for high blood pressure is not a restriction against blood donation.

If your blood pressure is elevated (over 180/100) at the time of donation you may be refused and asked to come back at another time when your blood pressure is under better control.
