Question - How can I find financial help for a stroke patient?:
I have a friend whose mother has had a stroke; this lady has no money and draws a very little social security check. The question is where came she find health care product at a reduced price, or better yet is there a place out there that will pay the cost of these products..
Guide Responds:
If this lady is drawing social security she should be eligible for Medicare. If she is not covered by Medicare or other insurance she may be eligible for Medicaid.Medicare and Medicaid both cover many medical and health care products if they are determined to be medically necessary. Home health for therapy may also be covered under some circumstances. Medicaid is the health insurance program for low income individuals and the application process involves a "means' test of financial status.
It would be wise for this lady to discuss this with her physician, or if she is not able to then a family member should take the initiative to find these services. A good place to start is with a social worker. Their local hospital would be a great place to start.
Good luck, I hope this helps.
