Question: How Is My Health Affected By Type 2 Diabetes?

"I have recently been diagnosed with Diabetes Two. Today my GP told me that my condition had now entered on a low key basis to my kidneys. I understand that other organs can be affected. My treatment for Diabetes Two is tablets and diet. This news was very worrying to me. Thank you."

Answer: While you should be concerned you can take some steps to prevent further problems. Keeping your blood sugar under tight control is the best way to prevnet complications from diabetes. Follow the advice of your doctor on diet and medications. Exercise is an excellent way to keep your diabates under control especially if you need to lose weight. If you smoke; quit!

Diabetes puts you at higher risk of heart attack, stroke, vision loss from diabetic retinopaty, kidney disease and infection. Keeping your blood sugar under tight control can help prevent these problems. You may want to discuss self monitoring of your blood sugar if your doctor has not already discussed that.
